At Iramoo Primary School students from Prep to Year 6 are involved in a variety of learning activities to develop and apply their knowledge and skills of music. This includes learning to sing different songs, play instruments and perform to audiences. Our students are immersed in rich learning experiences that help them to express, represent and communicate their ideas.

 

Some of the engaging learning activities our students are involved in include:

 

Prep – Year 2

  • singing, moving to music, and playing simple rhythmic accompaniment using body percussion.
  • playing instruments such as drums, and glockenspiels and rehearsing and performing songs for an audience.

 

Year 3 – Year 4

  • extending their knowledge of the elements of music by playing a variety of tuned and untuned instruments and creating their own music.
  • developing the ability to read and write graphical and musical notation and playing various rhythm patterns in time with the beat.
  • Rehearsing songs and performing to a formal audience.

 

Year 5 – Year 6

  • Solidifying their knowledge of the elements of music and how it affects the songs they perform and create.
  • developing the ability to read musical notation, play various melodies that they have learned using instruments and their voices.
  • Opportunities to perform to a formal audience.
