On November 9, we welcomed Paralympian Alexandra Viney to our school. She was truly inspiring and and provided an educational experience for your Year 5 and 6 students. Hearing about her journey, the challenges she faced, and the importance of perseverance was a valuable lessons for our students. She not only promotes a positive attitude toward overcoming obstacles but also encourages inclusivity and a broader understanding of diverse abilities. https://www.paralympic.org.au/athlete/alexandra-viney/ Kylie, the Inclusion Coach from Wyndham City Council, and Jeremy from Sport4All staff provided immersive activities for our Year 5 and 6 students. Activities like Goalball and seated Volleyball not only exposed our students to different sports but also promote inclusivity by offering experiences that may be less familiar to them.
Goalball and seated Volleyball are both excellent choices for promoting inclusivity, as they are sports that are adapted for individuals with visual impairments or mobility challenges, respectively. These activities likely provided your students with valuable insights into the adaptations and skills required to participate in sports regardless of ability.
Such initiatives contribute significantly to fostering a culture of inclusion, understanding, and appreciation for diversity within the school community. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rUYL0TUNEcM&t=73shttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uXLSzwJoT4M You can find out more about Sport4All and local All Abilities sessions and programs in Wyndham.https://www.iramoops.vic.edu.au/page/10/Extra-CurricularWyndham TV
